Story
My Mission
Our seas are at crisis point and facing a number of unprecedented threats from ocean warming to plastic pollution. I’m on a mission to teach people about the incredible marine wildlife on their doorstep, highlight the challenges it faces, but most importantly, equip people with the skills and knowledge to become guardians of our seas.
Summary
As I follow the salt path around Britain, I'll go in search of the best marine wildlife experiences and showcase the treasure trove of life above and below the waves. Through my adventures, I will highlight the challenges our oceans and wildlife face, and celebrate the people dedicating their lives to protect it. Going a step further than most expeditions, I will work with established groups such as the MCS* Sea Champions and SeaSearch projects to deliver citizen science along the way. Engaging with communities I will teach them a wealth of skills, from how to sample and identify microplastics to completing wildlife surveys above and below water. In doing so I hope to empower people with the skills and knowledge to take an active role in monitoring and protecting their local underwater patch.

How Is Your Journey Different To Others?
Unlike others, mine isn't about achieving a world first (although it will be!) or getting to the finish line as quickly as possible. It's about completing a low impact adventure and connecting with as many communities across the UK as possible. My goal is not to say I've completed a huge challenge, but to say I've championed meaningful and proactive change for our oceans. This trip also isn't just for me. I want to share it with as many people as possible and actively invite people to join me. In doing so, I hope the core messages from this trip will travel far and wide, making waves in communities all across Britain.
How Can I Be Sure My Money Is Going To MCS?
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
