Story
I am raising funds for the Street Child World Cup, which is taking place in Qatar in October. Although I have been to many international football competitions, volunteering for the Street Child World Cup will be different. Twenty-eight teams of street connected children (girls and boys) from 25 countries will be taking part. Alongside the football there will be an arts programme and human rights workshops.
The Street Child World Cup aims to tackle the stigma faced by street-connected children, raise awareness and understanding of their situation, and enable them to campaign in their countries for access to education, protection from violence, birth registration and gender equality.
I will be walking from Wembley Stadium - the home of the England team - to Adams Park - the home of Wycombe Wanderers (my football team). That's around 28 miles (one mile for each team taking part). I will also be swimming 250 lengths (10 lengths for each country).
More information about the teams is at: https://www.streetchildunited.org/our-sports-events/street-child-world-cup-doha-2022/
