Running the Great North Run has been on my bucket list since before I could even run a mile!
2018 is going to be the year that I continue to raise awareness in any way I can of mental health illnesses and to fundraise for my local Mind.
Just over a year ago I tried to take my own life. Now, although I am still very much struggling against Depression I am not letting it win. I have started my own peer support group - Red Balloons and I am due to start university in September to get the qualifications I need to help people manage their mental health through exercise and a healthy lifestyle. The factors that helped save my life.
This race is for..... ME! To celebrate who I have become despite all odds. To celebrate my survival. To celebrate my achievements. Most importantly, to help me help others.
I am aiming for a sub 2 hour time.
