Care for Wild is the largest rhino orphanage in the world, rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing orphaned rhinos whose mothers have been brutally murdered by poachers for their horns. Now more than ever, these endangered rhinos need your help.

Story

In April this year I spent three amazing weeks volunteering at Care for Wild Rhino Sanctuary (CfW).

An incredible team of dedicated, knowledgeable people work around the clock caring for rhinos that have been orphaned when their mothers have been killed as a result of illegal rhino horn poaching. Often the orphans arrive at CfW with physical and emotional injuries that require skilled care and a lengthy period of rehabilitation.
This year the sanctuary has celebrated the birth of three rhino calves, conceived and born naturally on the reserve. The parents of these little ones were themselves rescued as orphans and subsequently raised at CfW. These births are a huge milestone in CfW's rescue and conservation work and they give some hope for the future of rhinos.
CfW has a multi faceted approach to rhino rescue and rewilding with sustainable long term aims and goals.

I am definitely not brave enough to do a sponsored bungee jump or to leap out of a plane in an attempt to raise funds for CfW.
So instead I am seeking sponsorship as I spend a full eight hour day at Edinburgh Zoo working as a volunteer keeper (on 29th Sept).
I will be cleaning out lots of enclosures, feeding animals and doing any other tasks that I'm asked to do throughout the day. Hopefully there aren't any large spiders involved!

Any support that you are able to give would be hugely appreciated and will be used by CfW to continue saving and caring for these amazing and ecologically important animals.

Many, many thanks,
Clare x
