I am taking part in 'The Menstrual Cycle' for a charity called Fields of Life.  

The aim of this event is to raise awareness and gather donations which will go towards affecting positive change in East Africa. 

In Uganda, 86% of girls miss school due to their periods.

'There was no private space I could use to go to the toilet and clean myself. I often had to miss school due to the shame.' - Patience

Girls like Patience miss up to 280 hours of school every year as a result.

Let's help change this. No girls should have to miss out.

Money raised will help create a safe, hygienic space for girls at school and provide materials they can use to make reusable sanitary products.

I am challenging myself to cycle a total of 280 miles over the month of September. I will be doing this on local cycle paths, in forest areas and on a stationary spin bike.

I will be thinking of Patience and the many girls I have met personally during my time in Uganda.

I know times are tight for many right now. My target is to raise £1 per mile. If you can spare it, every penny given will go a long way.
