Walk with M.E. 2022 · 31 May 2022 to 8 September 2022 ·

Campaign by Action for M.E. (RCN 1036419)
Walk with M.E., Action for M.E.'s annual fundraiser, is a sponsored walk with a twist - everything is done as a team. Designed to be more accessible for different energy levels, teams join together to count a collective 1 million steps in 100 days.

Story

I am taking part in Action for M.E.'s Walk with M.E. campaign, to raise funds for their vital support services. Action for M.E. are the only charity working to support people of all ages living with M.E., through their Information, Support, Advocacy and Healthcare services. Action for M.E. also campaign for change and invest in biomedical research.

This year has been an amazing year of success in moving awareness and funding forwards for M.E. and Action for M.E. have been a huge part of that.

I find the repetitive nature of walking extremely challenging and struggle to enjoy walking much more than 2km in 40 minutes without multiple breaks. I have to limit my daily step count to 4000 steps a day, including movement at work, to maintain a quality of life that allows me to also be happy, pain free and socialise with my friends.

I prefer to use my step allocation for the day CLIMBING!

Climbing brings me so much joy. It makes my body feel good, it focuses and clears my mind. It's a social past time and the climbing community have been so accepting and accommodating - not at all intimidating like a mainstream gym might feel sometimes.

So instead of walking with me, I'm asking people to climb with me.

My goal is 420 routes/problems in 100 days.

I can climb 4 routes in a one hour session about once a fortnight at the moment - so I will be inviting as many friends, climbers and new friends as possible to come and join me at the wall.

Follow my FB and IG to see who I meet and how I get on.

I'll also be sharing what 10,000 steps looks like for me and how you can look out for those with differabilities and support them to live their best life.

Thank you for reading and thank you for any donations.

I'd really appreciate it if you could help share the story of M.E.
