Children North East exists because growing up can be hard. We create life-changing differences for babies, children and young people in their families, schools and communities. We offer support at those times when a little help can make a big difference for a child and its future.

Story

Team members from across Children North East have come together to take on the Great North 5K challenge!

Everyday, we work with babies, children and young people in their families, schools and communities to ensure they grow up to be healthy and happy. We know from personal experience the difference every penny of support can make, helping us provide life-changing support when it can make the biggest difference.

Our services, support and interventions are delivered to babies, children and young people and their families, from prenatal up to age 25, and include therapeutic services, mental health support, youth work, domestic abuse support, family support, community-based initiatives and our UK wide Poverty Proofing© initiative.

Some areas of our work are difficult and complicated however, whilst we believe it is important to share these at times, we wanted to use this space to highlight some of the best moments in our work...

"Seeing the young people we work with increase in confidence, whether it be through support from a peer mentor, or trying something new like a group activity is what makes it all worthwhile." Naomi

"‘Seeing the autistic young people we work with embrace their identity and feel reassured about their diagnosis is incredibly rewarding!" Saffia

“Seeing a young person’s confidence and leadership skills grow through engaging with a social action project is inspiring.  Empowering themselves to take action and positively impact their community whilst becoming active participants in society is wholesome to observe.” Quinn

"When young people find their voice it's an awesome thing to see. It's really inspiring when you see someone turn their passion into a force for change - for example when our Young Advisors spoke out about the need for better mental health support at a social media event. We need those voices!" Billie
