Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My name is Connor Johnstone, and I am celebrating the short life of Bradley Lowery by raising money for #DefeatNeuroblastoma.

Bradley Lowery was a 6 years old boy.

At the age of 18 months, he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and battled with it for over 2 until he was successful in beating the Cancer. He went into remission.

In July 2016, Bradley relapsed.

I first read about Bradley’s story 13 December 2016It was said he only had 2 months to live, but he kept fighting hard.

Around that same time Chelsea FC and the FA started what was one of the kindest acts I’ve seen. Bradley was given access to the ground to be with the team he supports, Sunderland AFC to run around and interact with players. The Chelsea players set up the ball for a penalty kick for little Bradley and it was later featured as the goal of the month by British media.

On February 19, 2017, Bradley’s mum informed us via social media that 2 weeks from then he would have his scans to find out if his new treatment was working and improving his condition or not, unfortunately, April 8th it was revealed that Bradley was not improving and the cancer was winning.

On the 25th of May, it was revealed that Bradley was not expected to live much longer at all.

Almost a month later, June 29, his mother posted this message: “Bradley is deteriorating fast, his temperature is going very high his breathing very fast his oxygen levels low. He is sleeping most the time apart from odd times awake. We knew this was coming but we are heart broken beyond words. We have been told he could be like this for days it just depends on him and his body

July 1st Brad wanted a little “bed party” where all his family and his best friend, Sunderland striker Jermaine Defoe, came and lie in bed with him for cuddles and chats, which was claimed by Brad’s mum as his way of saying his goodbyes.

On July 7 at 1.45am WA time, unfortunately, Bradley’s mum posted an update, stating Bradley was no longer responsive. Around 21 hours, unfortunately, Bradley passed away. Age 6.

The short life of Bradley Lowery and how brave he was to fight such devastating cancer has inspired me to remember Bradley by completing this walk to also raise money for those poor children suffering Neuroblastoma, whether present or future.
