Story

Hi, I'm James Cook. Some of you may know me as Cookie.

In light of the news that St Barnabas Hospice are at crisis point in their funding I've decided to undertake a 24 hour endurance cycle to try and fill some of that gap. I have already started training and aim to be doing this in the Sussex area On Friday 24th July to Saturday 25th july time. The exact route are still to be confirmed so I'll be posting regular updates as these details are fully ironed out.

St Barnabas supports individuals and families through some of their darkest times, and ensures that people are surrounded by light and warmth as they receive end of life care. It only seems fitting in a time when others are being tested to their limits to push my own in solidarity with an organisation which not only plays a vital role in our community and surrounding areas but is also close to my own heart.

I would like to acknowledge the incredible work being done by all those who work for the NHS, healthcare workers and other key workers at this time. We are all so grateful for the sacrifices being made in order to protect and care for us all and I don't wish to take anything away from them by choosing to fundraise for another charity. Many awesome people are doing great things to support the NHS (shoutout Jimmy Dreads @ZebranoWoodcraft and Captain Tom), but St Barnabas is currently in crisis and losing 70% of their monthly fundraising income as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. I know the value of the work they do and what a loss it would be to this community if they went under.

I'm just asking for the equivalent of a pint or two towards this or more if financially doable. But  I also recognise that these are hard times so if you can't afford to donate then I would be so grateful if you could please share this page and make this viral so I can spread the word as far and wide as possible.

Thank you and big love
