Story

Hi Everyone.   It’s Ole here.   I am asking you if you might be able to spare £1 to help unloved dogs.

I have a best friend called Murray.  Murray’s poor mummy died while she was giving birth to him, and Murray himself was in a very bad way too.   He wouldn’t have lived to be my Bestie if it hadn’t been for the amazing work of Hope Rescue and my Auntie Nicole, who took him through the charity and hand-reared him (- deciding to  keep him in the process!) into the gorgeous boy that he is.

I also have a Mummy who has been pretty poorly this summer and she’s not been able to go out walking with me and Murray as much as she usually can, but she is now nearly mended.  To prove she is better, she and I are going to do the Hope Rescue Waggy Welsh Walk on 28 October which is a three mile walk round on the beaches and cliff-tops around Barry Island and we hope to raise money for Hope (- no pun intended!) at the same time.

Our original idea was to ask people to sponsor us £1 to buy a packet of Schmakos which Hope Rescue use as treats and rewards for all the dogs in their care.   A packet of ten costs £1 and were hoping that people might sponsor us for the price of a packet so that ten unloved dogs would have something yummy to make their tails wag for a few minutes; and if we raised £10 then that would be one hundred wagging tails.

Amazingly, we have reached that target in less than twelve hours so we now need to set a new challenge.   £20 helps to keep a stray dog safe for the night.  My predecessor Trafford was once a stray and if kind people hadn't kept him safe then my Mummy and Daddy might never have found him and been able to share sixteen wonderful years with him.   So we have decided to see if twenty kind people would sponsor us £1 so that one dog will have a warm bed for a night.

If you wanted to donate a bit more then £50 provides behavioural support for a mistreated dog; £100 gives a rescue dog a comfy raised bed, blankets and food for a week; £250 pays for vet treatment for a poorly pup; and £500 supports our rehoming programme, finding loving forever homes for our rescue dogs.

You can see a bit more about the work Hope Rescue do by clicking on the link below.

Thank you ever so much for reading this and for thinking about sponsoring me and my Mummy, and for maybe making some doggy tails wag.

Lots of love from Ole xxx
