Story

On the 11th January 2018, our lives were changed forever with the unexpected arrival of our beautiful and brave son Kaspar Iwan Jones. After what had been a relatively smooth pregnancy (which was such a blessing following two miscarriages prior to this) I went into premature labour and Kaspar was born at just 23 weeks. He weighed just 1lb 3oz but all of that was pure perfection. Whether too eager to meet his mummy and daddy, or just too precious for this world, he was not able to stay with us. He fought bravely for 6 hours giving us the precious time to hold him, feel his heart beating against our own, and to feel his breath on our skin. I got to watch Owen holding our firstborn son - to see the look of pure adoration in his eyes. We are so unbelievably proud to say that we are Kaspar's parents. We are just so sorry that we could not bring him home.

People say that having a child and losing a child are two of the most life changing experiences anyone can go through - we went through both in the space of a few short hours, with no time to think or prepare ourselves for what lay ahead. Because of that we will never be the same people we once were. Because of Kaspar we are stronger, braver, our hearts fuller and yet emptier all at once.

We want people to know that Kaspar lived, and all he knew was love. He did not know fear or hate or pain, and for that we will always be thankful. He is our shooting star, our cosmic Kaspar.

Sadly, we know that Kaspar was not the only baby that would have died that day. On average 15 babies will die in the UK each day, either before, during or shortly after their birth. SANDS are a charity who amongst providing great support to families like ours, are working tirelessly to try to bring this number down.

Over the coming months, we hope to ‘rack up the miles’ in a series of events, encouraging many of our friends and family to join in along the way, to make our way to Kaspar’s star (and back again as many times as we can!!) in the Lupus constellation, some 580 light years (which we will be converting to miles) away. We will post updates on this page, and also on our blog page www.loveamongstthestars.com.

Please support us in any way you can. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Love Tasha, Owen & Cosmic Kaspar, xxx
