Doug and his fitness community friends are racing to Africa. They will be running / cycling / walking / swimming 20,000km through all 20 countries TackleAfrica have worked in from London to Durban to celebrate their 20th anniversary.

Story

Hey sportsfans, Doug H here!

Fancy joining a community to get fitter, while helping a good cause AND even winning some free physiotherapy and PT with me!?

In May & June for 6 weeks we are hoping that you lovely people will help us accumulate 20,000km of distance needed to race from the UK to West Africa, across to East Africa and down into South Africa (virtually ofc;).

To enter couldn't be simpler, just log on to the JustGiving page and pay your £20 registration and you are good to go!

Jump on any cardio machines in the gym, go for a run, swim or cycle outdoors or count up the distances in a WOD (yes even handstand walks count). The more and the sweatier post-workout pictures the better!

We will be giving out prizes for the greatest distance accumulated (and this will be adjusted so that the people that cycle downhill don't just hoover up all the prizes!), to those who unlock achievement badges by completing a variety of different exercises, AND to a few volunteers selected in a raffle on competition days so everyone has a chance of some free physio and pt.

Who are we doing this for?

TackleAfrica uses the power and popularity of football to deliver HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) information and services to young people on football pitches across the continent. We do this by training African football coaches, games teachers and community leaders to use fun, interactive football sessions with inbuilt health messaging with their players.

Alongside receiving sexual health information during football sessions, players also have the chance to access sexual health services at sessions and football tournaments, such as HIV testing, condoms and other contraception, and referrals to further clinical services.
