Ukraine has faced almost eight years of conflict. With recent events, we want to be there for everyone who needs us

Story

The situation in Ukraine is an issue really close to the hearts of our Water Polo team so we would really appreciate your support in our 24-hour Swimathon fundraiser.

33 water polo players will be swimming in slots around the clock from 5pm on Monday 14th March until 5pm on Tuesday 15th March. We will be swimming in the Girton College pool in groups of 6 all through the night. Some lucky people will even be swimming twice…

We are raising money for the British Red Cross charity that is a member of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), which brings together 14 leading UK aid agencies to raise money at times of humanitarian crisis.

The money raised will help the Ukraine Red Cross Society, International Committee of the Red Cross, and other Red Cross partners working in border countries, to support the humanitarian response in Ukraine and the border countries.

This response includes:

  •         Supporting hospitals and healthcare facilities
  •         Repairing vital infrastructure
  •         Helping to repair homes, healthcare centres, schools and community centres.
  •        Supporting families with food, first aid and     medicines
