Fred Whitton Saddleback Challenge · 7 June 2020

The Fred Whitton Challenge is one of the most popular sportives in the UK and is also famed as being particularly difficult. Riders rank it alongside European events such as the Marmotte in terms of difficulty. The event will take place 9th May 2021.

Story

Originally scheduled for June 2020, I'm finally doing this on Sunday September 19th 2021. Probably the toughest challenge I've undertaken, and with an ambition to complete it (rather than go quickly and fail to finish)!!

I'm as ready as I can be, the bike is serviced, now it's just the finest Lake District climbs and the weather that I need to contend with.

Any support for the GNAAS gratefully received, thank you!

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident whether that is on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre. The charity responded to 1,640 call outs last year* alone, via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles, where they performed treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
