Story

Hi, I’m Alec Payne. My friend Josh and I are embarking on a 1,000 mile cycle tour to raise funds for the Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice. We’re aiming to complete the route in 14 days and our planned route will take us through 6 countries in Western Europe.

Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice provides free care to patients who have cancer or terminal illnesses. Sadly, my mother, Sharon, passed away in April of this year after a long battle with cancer. The Swaffham and Litcham Home Hospice provided her with incredible care during her illness.

2020 has seen COVID 19 affect many aspects of all our lives. Many services face uncertainty in these troubled times so we wanted to support the hospice so that they can continue giving invaluable care and support to their patients; just like they did with Sharon.

We’ll be setting off on the 8th September and the 6 countries we hope to cycle through are: England, The Netherlands, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and France. We plan to find accommodation as we go along, which will probably be in the form of Airbnbs. We’ll also be vlogging the whole experience so you can watch our journey on Josh’s YouTube channel:

We do have a backup plan if restrictions are heightened due to COVID 19, which will involve a route around the UK. Whatever happens, the challenge of 1,000 miles will be completed!

We’ve got about 5 weeks left to train for this challenge and we’re going to give it our all. We’d really appreciate any donations no matter how big or small. If you’re not able to donate, we’d love it if you could share our story.

All donations go to the wonderful Swaffham & Litcham Home Hospice.
