Kate Potter, Nicola Bell and Finlay MacLean - Cycling 603 miles across Europe.
Our aim? To raise at least £500 for the Papworth Hospital Charity, in memory of my late father, Lester Potter.
Losing my dad has been without doubt the most difficult thing I have had to deal with in my life, and I find myself wanting to do something that will make a difference to people who suffer with heart problems.
Dad was a sportsman and also a very keen cyclist who was planning a fund raising cycle ride from Geneva to Milan in June this year. Sadly he was unable to achieve this special goal, as he passed away suddenly in April after suffering a fatal heart attack.
So, to replicate Dad’s cycle, on the 28th August 2014, myself and two friends will set off from Amsterdam and plan on finishing in Berlin on 8th September, where we hope to rest our weary legs and enjoy a few well-earned beers!
Papworth Hospital seemed the obvious choice as it is the UK’s largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital and the country’s main heart and lung transplant centre treating over 22,800 inpatient and day cases and 53,400 outpatients each year from across the UK.
Please support me, Nicola and Finn in this personal journey and help us achieve our goal!
