I am raising money for Crisis, who help transform the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our society. I wanted to do something a little more altruistic this Christmas (I've put my money where my mouth is, and sponsored myself... is that even allowed?!!)

In October I will be cycling the 250-odd mile journey from Leeds to Aberystwyth. I meant to do this just before Christmas 2013 but I couln't do it then, so I'm doing it now instead! It should take me 4 days if all goes to plan, and although it started off as a solo mission I've managed to recruit a bit of company along the way :)

I want to draw your attention to the 'Crisis at Christmas' fund: Crisis day centres are safe, warm and vibrant places where people cut off from family an home can spend the festive period. They offer three nutritious, hot meals including Christmas dinner; the chance to shower and change clothes, have a haircut and get a health check; expert advice on life-changing issues like housing and employment; and an introduction to Crisis year-round services for training and support for the future. If you'd like to give a bit of money, just give what you can, even just the price of a pint will be hugely appreciated. 

So you know, 73p from every pound donated is spent directly on charitable activities; 26p is spent on further fundraising (which raises another 93p income); and only 1p in every pound is spent on governance.
