We fund long-term, sustainable research to find a cure for brain tumours

Story

Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

My name is Alexandra Holman, and on the 14th April 2015 my dad was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma Grade 4 brain tumour. Many girls say ‘my dad is my hero’ and mine really, truly is. All of the crap he has been through in the past 2 years has been astonishing and the whole time he has remained strong. It’s that strength and courage that he has always shown is exactly why he is my hero.

After two major brain operations at John Radcliffe Neurosurgical Department, two rounds of chemotherapy, as well as radiotherapy, at Northampton General Hospital he is doing well and is still kicking ass. The tumor is stable and he now has regular visits to Northampton General to keep an eye on it, but that may not have been the case without the work of all of the amazing medical team at both hospitals.

I was shocked to find out that more adults and children under 40 die of a brain tumour than from any other cancer yet Brain Tumour Research receives just 1% of national cancer research spending in the UK.
This charity aims to raise awareness as well as funds for research into the prevention and treatment of brain tumours, as well as ultimately finding a cure.

So this is why on the 19th April 2017 my dad is going to shave my hair off to raise money for Brain Tumor Research, because every dad should get the chance to shave his daughter's head.
