Story

UPDATE!

Hi guys, OH MY GOODNESS I've smashed my target and I've only got 18 days to go! Please sponsor what you can however little or large it may be.

Hi there!

Most of you who know me will know I'm not a runner, I don't stay fit and I'm not a fan of exercising of any shape or form... BUT I've decided to run 75 miles from Tarrant Rushton to Pegasus Bridge for charity..

My Grandpa was a
Glider Pilot who landed at Pegasus Bridge in the early hours of 6th June 1944.
He took off from Tarrant Rushton around 23:00 and landed at 00:16, he was the
third Glider to take off, however landed in second place due to a boat being loaded
last minute which meant he was overweight compared to how he had practised in
the years leading up to the invasion.

When he landed he
became concussed, got thrown through the front of the cockpit into the lake, he
always said to me what his thoughts were when he came round... "This isn't
a good idea, better get out!" he pulled his Co-Pilot (Peter Boyle) out,
then a solider asked for the password, however as he was still concussed from
the landing he didn't answer quick enough and got shot in the wrist, he survived
and I was lucky enough to visit Normandy once with him.

He is my hero
and my inspiration for Run to Pegasus. I visit Normandy every year that I
can for the D-Day commemorations in memory of him. I miss him a lot but I'm so
proud of what he did, what any veteran of World War Two and other wars and
every veteran deserves to be looked after when they fought for our country.

The Veterans
Charity is a brilliant, they help all veterans if they are in need, whether it’s
down to help them getting housed, to even simply doing a Tesco’s shop to help
with food. Please give the smallest or the biggest amount possible to help
these Veterans who need our help.

Training has
been tough, I work hard at the gym and running after work whenever I can
(mostly dependant on weather!) However I am nowhere near where I want to be, it’s
been a lot harder to train for a run than I thought but this isn't stopping me,
I'm still training hard and I will complete this challenge even if it kills me!
I'm determined. My Grandpa flew a 'wooden coffin' as he called it… If he can
fly in the middle of night saving our country, I can run 75 miles to help
others,
