Story

What's Happening Now? Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The Belfast City Marathon on October 3rd 2021 I am anticipating will be my final full marathon. Believe it or not I paid entry to this race on October 2018, however, an injury at the time and COVID-19 has delayed my participation until now. With training coming close to completion I thought this would be the ideal time to do some fundraising in the memory of my late friend, Hugh Curran.

"Big Hugh" sadly passed away in December 2020 after a brave battle with motor neurone disease. I can't pinpoint the exact moment I first met Hugh, or how we struck up our first conversation, but I had served in a number of different committees, but most of all, I saw the country on board the famous "Hugh-Wan-Hugh". It could have broken down at any second, a wheel may pop off from time to time & at least 1 time out of 10 we'd be running on fumes. I remember one of his buses had a hole on the floor directly below where I would have sat.

Hugh gave me so many memories and without his generosity, friendship and patience, I don't think I would have seen the places I did, drank in all 32 counties in Ireland or even got home without him. This campaign is my thank you to him, to raise funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association on his behalf.
