As you all know I like to turn the pedals now and then and have done the Aberdovey Bike Ride including a multi day challenge previously. Some of you have probably donated previously and I thank you for your generosity.
That time of year has come around again and this year is going to be my biggest challenge yet with 430 miles and 32451ft of elevation over 4 days. We ride north from Wolverhampton to Peak District, then a tours of some of The Peaks biggest hills, before returning to Wolvers and then out to Aberdovey.
As some of you know I like do not have a dedicated Charity and like to choose Charities that I have seen in action throughout the previous year and due to my line of work I see the difference these Charities make.
However, this year is a bit different and personal to my family.
I have seen my brave father-in-law over come Prostate Cancer and return to good health just last month so this year my chosen Charity is Prostate Cancer UK. www.prostatecanceruk.org
Prostate Cancer is something that affects men from as young as mid 30s and if detected early by regular check ups and more so by self awareness is fully treatable.
Over the next 10 years Prostate Cancer UK's aim is to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and support and to stop prostate cancer being a killer.
My Challenge certainly isn't an easy one and to be honest my preparation hasn't been as good as previous years.
In short I'm dreading it but it's got to be done!
