Miles for Refugees · 8 September 2020 ·

The Refugee Council is the nation’s refugee charity. Together with community groups, partners and volunteers, we help people who have escaped war and persecution to rebuild their lives, integrate into communities, and play their part in Britain.

Story

As a group of 7, we have chosen to each walk 72 miles cumulatively over September to replicate one of the journeys, albeit in a more forgiving environment, that a refugee must undertake to escape the difficulties they experience like the Syrian war through no fault of their own. In this case, the 72 miles is equivalent to the distance between Damascus and Beirut . The Refugee Council is a charity that provides support for these refugees in a number of ways such as help and advice with the asylum process, integration and employment once it has been granted as well as easily accessible mental health support. We've actually already started this challenge, however any donations will still be greatly appreciated by us, the charity and the people that they help.
