Story

This is my first solo challenge in memory of our precious Son, Alfie Bear. Alfie was an energetic and happy 5 year old boy when he was diagnosed with a deadly brain tumour called DIPG.

Despite Alfie's devastating diagnosis, he never stopped smiling and loving his little life. Our Alfie bear sadly passed away aged 6 years old. He inspired me to keep fighting so that one day a cure can be found to help future children.

I will be starting my challenge at The John Radcliffe hospital, Oxford where Alfie spent a lot of time during his treatments. I will be running 25 miles and riding 25 miles until I reach Northampton General Hospital where our Alfie spent his final precious days. I will then be moving on to the boxing gym where I will do 25 rounds in the ring.

It seems fitting to follow Alfie's final journey home during the month of his 8th Angelversary. I know the thought of Alfie will keep me going on the day. Please sponsor me if you can. Every penny will help towards childhood brain tumour research in our Alfie's memory.

Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG/DMG) are the second most common primary high grade brain tumours in children. 40 UK children will be diagnosed with DIPG every year. The age at diagnosis is typically 4-11 years old and the median survival time is just 9 months.
