Story
When you have children, you hope and pray that everything will be ok. But when we realised that our daughter Imogen was having significant difficulty sitting up, walking and talking. We were worried sick about what might be going on. Would she ever walk and talk? Would she always need extra support in life? Is this because of something we've failed to do as parents?
But nobody can give you an answer. All you can do was wait and see.
Amidst this anxiety, we started to be visited by "Su" from Portage. Su was amazing. She came every week for an hour and played with Imogen. While the doctors, physios and speech therapists could only visit occasionally. Su was there every week, without fail, to reassure us, help to develop Imogen's skills and give advice.
That helps a lot.
So I'd like to do what I can to give something back.
I've never run a half marathon before. Actually, I've never run more than 5k before. It's going to be a lot of hard work (follow my training here) but in October I will be running the Great Birmingham Run to raise money for the National Portage Association. So please help me to support this charity so that more families can get this kind of support by donating as much as possible.
Thank you.
