Story

Do you know that as of 2012, there were 14.2 million new cases of cancer in the world and out of this vast number, about 8.2 million died from the disease? Data gathered in 2016 reveals that every sixth death in the world is caused by cancer and the total number of deaths recorded has skyrocketed to almost 9 million individuals (about 10% of the world). On a daily basis, thousands of people are diagnosed with one form of cancer or the other.

Cancer has eaten deep not just into our bodies, but into our souls. At the time of writing this article, there are about 100 types of cancers affecting different parts of the body from the head to the toes. When cancer visits, no part of the body is safe. Although there is a growing body of research, we cannot say how much more will be needed to put this thief under lock and key.

Cancer has stolen a lot of dreams, happiness, relationships, inventions and even great minds who would have gone into the world to make it a better place. If you knew or know someone who is battling cancer, you will know that this calls for desperate actions.

In order to gain more insight into the subject matter, the McMillan Cancer Research was established to carry out intensive research on how best to send this unwanted visitor into exile. On a yearly basis, as part of their efforts to find a lasting solution for cancer cases and to also support those who are suffering from the condition, McMillan Cancer Research organizes the McMillan Game Heroes with the sole aim of raising funds for cancer research and care.

McMillan Game Heroes is a 24-hour Gamathon (Game marathon) which aims at streaming Video Games to raise money for the McMillan Cancer Research. At DarkSpawn Gaming we believe we can help raise money by doing that which we love the most; playing video games. As a way of providing hope to those fighting for their lives as cancer patients and those searching for the best cure, each year we take part in the McMillan Game Heroes event.

During this Game marathon, we get our players to play their favorite games for the 24hour duration. This is something we are positive will help us give hope to that little child battling with stage three bone cancer, to that woman lying helplessly on the sick bed because her breast is gone, to that man waiting to give up the ghost because his prostate had been badly damaged, to that young and promising youth whose life had been put on hold because of a brain tumor and to every other person who is battling to stay alive.

We believe everyone deserves the best in life and we are ready to help raise the needed funds to help fight against this menace.
