As many of you will know Dave was diagnosed with ALS Motor Neurone Disease in June of this year after 6-9 months of feeling increasingly unwell. MND is a progressive neurodegenerative condition affecting the relaying of messaging from the brain to the muscles, eventually leading to paralysis and a dramatically curtailed life expectancy. At present there is no cure for MND. 

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is the only national charity in the UK dedicated to MND care, research and campaigning, and is closely involved in the worldwide effort to find a cure to this devastating disease.

As a previously fit and healthy 30 year old, Dave's diagnosis has come as a massive shock to both of us, as well as our friends and families. Although things are becoming more difficult we are determined to carry on living life as fully as possible. With that in mind we are attempting to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in mid December,  before setting off on our around the world trip. Kilimanjaro is the world's highest free standing mountain, and the highest mountain in Africa.

Although Dave cannot promise to make it to the summit, he is determined to give it his best shot. Crawling up if neccessary! The MNDA's work is essential in making the lives of people living with MND and their families and friends a little bit more manageable.
