Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Southport Soup Kitchen performs an important role, in helping support the homeless and disadvantaged in Southport. The Soup kitchen aims to provide hot, nourishing food and beverages free of charge.

The Southport Soup Kitchen is a charitable organization, it is independent and is run by dedicated volunteers, with no paid staff or management.

The Soup Kitchen opens 5 days a week, providing warm food, a place to rest and good company. It is open throughout the year, apart from Christmas, when a Christmas shelter takes over.

The Soup Kitchen has an open door policy and welcomes all who come to them for food, emotional and practical support, and an opportunity to meet friends and enjoy a sense of community.

A wide cross-section of people use Southport Soup Kitchen , some who attend, sleep in a variety of places, tents in the sand dune, sheds, allotments, and public toilets. Most who attend are not actually homeless, many live a precarious existence sleeping on friend's couches, or in very sub standard accommodation.  The Soup Kitchen also serves people trying to survive on a very low income, migrant workers and those affected by benefit cuts.
