Petra Trek 2023

Petra Trek 2024 · 1 October 2024 ·
I’ve always wanted to go to Petra and when I saw the SSAFA post for this, back in April ‘23, it was a no brainer! What better way to visit than by raising money for charity at the same time. My whole family were/are ex RN, my dad was in the 2nd WW, mum was in the WRNS and also in the 2nd WW. My eldest sister was in the WRNS, her husband RN and my brother was RN who then left and joined the AAC, Army Air Corps, and served 2 tours in Northern Ireland. I was the ‘black sheep of the family’ by joining the WRAC, Women’s Royal Army Corps, from 1983 - 1987. I’m self funding this trek, £1,800, so ALL monies raised will go directly to SSAFA. Thank you for taking the time to read the above.
I am taking on the Petra Trek in aid of SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity. SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity is a trusted source of practical, emotional, and financial support for serving personnel, veterans and their families in their time of need. In 2021 our trained teams of volunteers and employees helped more than 66,000 people, from Second World War veterans to those who have served in more recent conflicts, or currently serving (both regulars and reserves), and their families. SSAFA understands that behind every uniform is a person. And we are here for that person and their family, any time they need us and in any way they need us.
