Story
Teach First's annual event, Run the River, usually sees 3,000 people run around the River Thames to raise funds for Teach First’s work supporting the UK’s most disadvantaged schoolchildren. But, this year, as the Thames is out of reach for many and the mass gathering can’t go ahead as normal, Teach First are asking runners to take part individually.
COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on the most disadvantaged pupils. As a result of school closures, it’s estimated that ten years of progress towards closing the learning gap between poorer and richer children has been lost. By taking part in this year’s unique version of Run the River, we will be helping Teach First get behind the pupils who’ll need the most support once schools fully re-open. All money raised will help support schools facing challenges across the UK.
Each member of the TDR NW Team will be running a 5K or 10K between 7th– 13th September to raise money for this great cause. We would be grateful if you could please donate to help us reach our fundraising target - any donation, no matter how small, will help us help Teach First.
Runners in the TDR NW Team are (*drum roll please*):
- Danny Jones
- Helen Cutting
- Mark Westbrook
- Matthew Whittle
- Harry Losty
- Ben Kirkham
- Jess Moore
