Cycling for the trees 2020

The Big Bike Ride · 14 March 2020
I am Safo Mawuko Kutorwu, director of Denyigba Lorlor NGO in Wli, Ghana. I am going on a sponsored bike ride from Wli to Accra (275km) in March, 2020 to raise money for our tree nurseries. My two good friends, Julius Fiadomor and John Nyadedzor, will be cycling with me. We want to raise funds for Denyigba's tree planting project and to spread awareness about the work we are doing.
Denyigba Lorlor NGO is planting trees throughout the Volta Region of Ghana. Three staff are employed to nurse the trees from seed to sapling. Each tree costs around £7.00 to grow. The saplings are gifted to community members to plant and tend.
Part of the funds raised will be used to protect the saplings from insects (grasshoppers, maggots, caterpillars and many others have been feeding on the leafs and stems of the baby trees). We hoping to make bore holes in two of the communities where we have tree nurseries (Atsiame and Dzita- Agbledomi ) so we get sufficient and accessible water for the baby trees.
Your support will enable us to buy more seeds for nursing into beautiful saplings ready to be planted in our local communities. A provision to purchase more tools will help to make work easier for us. All the money we raise goes directly to local projects, perfectly in tune with our local environment and community needs.
We are very grateful for your support!
