Visit the charity's profileDenyigba Lorlor NGO is planting trees throughout the Volta Region of Ghana. Three staff are employed to nurse the trees from seed to sapling. Each tree costs around £7.00 to grow. The saplings are then gifted to community members to plant and tend.
This is the breakdown of how the money is spent in Ghana cedi: seed (2 cedi); bag for nursery (0.5 cedi); transportation from the market to the seed nursery, and then for replanting (5 cedi); fence for protecting the seed nursery (15 cedi); rope (3 cedi); manure (5 cedi); organic pest control medicine (10 cedi); wages and maintenance (10 cedi). The total is 50.5 Ghana cedi, or around £7.00.
In the photo gallery below, you can see the process from planting the seedlings to sharing out the saplings on community planting days. Dream Big Ghana Foundation (UK) wants to raise £1000 to help Denyigba Lorlor NGO reach its target of planting and raising 1000 trees in 2020.
