Story
As my 30th approaches I decided to tick an item on my bucket list!
Just before my 16th birthday I lost my dad after a short fight with pancreatic Cancer. In the June of that year he took the challenge with a good friend to climb Blaven, part of the Cuillins in Skye to tick an item off his own bucket list, knowing he had months to go and I vowed from then I would take on my own hill walking challenge to raise money to find better treatment for the hard to diagnose pancreatic Cancer.
I am delighted that Alison Blower and some of her family are joining us on the day in memory of her own dad who also lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Very few treatment options currently exist for pancreatic cancer patients and survival rates are shockingly low, with less than 5% of people living for five years or more after diagnosis. These survival rates have barely changed in 40 years.
New treatment options are urgently needed to improve survival and quality of life, and to give pancreatic cancer patients and their families more precious time together.
My amazing family and friends have “jumped” at the chance to support my mad idea and we will be having a team “Three Peak Challenge” where we will climb Criffel, Bengairn and Screel in one day! The date of our challenge is Saturday 14th October 2017. Any support you can give will be gratefully received.
