Story
As some of you may know, our son Arlo was born with a rare
bleeding disorder (Severe Haemophilia) and receives regular life saving
treatment. Since he was born he has been going to Glasgow Children's Hospital
for his care. Never have we experienced such human kindness. On first name
terms with all his carers, he is treated like a little superstar. That is why I
am raising money for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity – Schiehallion
Ward by running a 25km Trail Run as part of the Keswick Mountain Festival on
the 11th of September 2021. And perhaps more terrifying than this, I
am also sharing a poem I have written.
Have you ever met a superhero?
I marvel at the humans so kind and modest
Who day after day turn up to work and are merely honest
Honest in their words, honest in their nature
The doctors and nurses in all their regalia
Day after day saving lives and making days better
For the children of Glasgow who are not in fine fettle
These superheroes, no matter what,
Turn up to the hospital and want nothing back
Nothing in return for their kindness and help
In making Glasgow's children find better health
Never have I known such a wonderful group,
Of humans who have strength, courage and that something else
I give my thanks to the caped crusaders for all that they do
As without them, I wouldn't have you
You, my son, are all I that I need
And I know with their help they'll stop the bleeds
So who needs the superheroes of the big screen?
When these peoples strength provide all that you need
