Devon Air Ambulance Trust is the charity that raises the funds to keep Devon’s two air ambulances flying and fleet of Critical Care Cars responding. We can only be there for those in need, with your continued kindness and support. Together, we are Devon Air Ambulance.

Story

We are putting our patience, stamina and friendship to the test by driving in an £80 Peugeot 205 across deserts and minefields in the Plymouth to Banjul rally.

We depart some time around early December on the gruelling 4000ish mile rally which could take up to six weeks to complete including 300 miles over the Sahara Desert before we reach our West African destination.

The challenge includes a spending cap of only £100 to buy the vehicle and only £15 each to maximise its roadworthiness although we can accept sponsorship for car parts, survival kits, camping equipment and other basic kit.  On our way through Africa, we hope to stop at local schools to donate pens, workbooks and other essentials and our car will be given away to the Rotary Club in The Gambia where it’ll be auctioned for charity.  Find out more at www.down2dakar.co.uk
