A little bit about what we do - We are a team of volunteers who respond to 999 and 111 calls across the Earley and Lower Earley area and often further afield.

We are looking to fundraise so we can add to our lifesaving equipment - the below figures give you an idea of what we need to raise money for:-

Pager / Phone - £200 per year

Medical Equipment Bag - £265

Defibrillator - £1,000

Finally to enable us to identify ourselves as responders a CFR car like the one in our picture can cost up to £20,000. Having this for our scheme in the area would really help us to make a difference!!

All of these are vital bits of equipment that will save lives..

As a Community Responder Scheme we have all undergone training which allows us to support the Ambulance Service in Basic Life Support which involves the use of External Automatic Defibrillators, Oxygen Therapy and Wound Management.

Typically we are based at home with a pager, phone and equipment such as a defibrillator and respond to calls within the local area. We generally use our own vehicles and obey normal traffic rules. As we are based locally we normally arrive before the Ambulance or Rapid Response vehicle allowing us to start life saving treatment even earlier. In the case of a cardiac arrest for every minute without CPR reduces the patients chance of survival by 14%
