Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, in July 2017, on behalf of the Irish Cancer Society. On a very personal level the Irish Cancer Society, is a charity that is very close to my heart. I am climbing Mt Kilimanjaro in memory of my fiancé Shane, who was diagnosed with cancer in April 2016. He fought so bravely and is missed so dearly. The irony of climbing a mountain in Shane's memory is not lost on me, as when I broached the idea of doing this climb with him, on our honeymoon, he laughed and said he would see me when I got back!

I am personally funding the trip, so all money raised will go directly to the Irish Cancer Society to support cancer research. The funds raised will help fund innovative, high-quality research that will have a significant impact on preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer in Ireland. The best and brightest minds in Ireland are bearing down on a disease that currently affects one in three of us in our lifetime. Their research is already being put to practical use, helping cancer patients in Ireland and around the world to survive the disease. Only last year, Irish Cancer Society funded researchers made 30 new discoveries in cancers of the blood, lung, kidney, breast, prostate and bone.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you for your support and please keep an eye on the other fundraising events which will be taking place.
