Story
When the opportunity arose to fundraise for Uprising I immediately knew what I wanted to do. I am going to complete a Christmas Countdown of Kindness, aiming to complete at least 25 acts of kindness that will benefit my local community and those close to me. Please consider donating to Uprising to help me to raise the £100 needed for them to carry on the amazing work that they do, helping young people across the country.
Earlier this year I completed Uprising's Leadership programme after completing Find Your Power with them last year. I've ran local campaigns, learnt lots about politics and it's impact and worked with a fantastic group of young people in my local community. Importantly for myself, I've since gone on to gain other volunteering opportunities as a result of this & it helped improve my confidence and knowledge of my local community.
From researching my local community I realised that there are so many organisations and charities which are doing amazingly valuable work. However, there is very little support out there for them. Those who deserve the most are so often overlooked.
Uprising say:
We open pathways to power for a diverse range of young people aged 16-25, who have talent, but lack opportunity. Through our important work we provide a fresh influx of socially conscious leaders into decision-making institutions, to break the cycle of unrepresentative power. Our programmes equip participants with the social capital, along with the knowledge, skills and confidence to to find new opportunities, raise aspirations, enhance employability, fulfil their leadership potential and strengthen their communities through social action.
