The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice is launching an exciting challenge asking people to raise funds - every penny counts - to boost others with terminal and life limiting illnesses and their loved ones.

Story

For those of you that know me well, you will know that I am not one to let an adventure pass me by. For those of you who do not know me, I am a Gran living in the fast lane with four young grandsons keeping me on my feet!

So after reaching the very grand old age of 60 (not that I feel a day over 21), my son Ross decided to surprise me with a very unusual yet exciting birthday present. Ross told me that he had booked the trip of a lifetime to climb Kilimanjaro! Unfortunately our 9 day climb has been postponed from October to January 2022 but we still have the same drive to succeed.

Please read our story below from The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice which explains why we have chosen this wonderful charity.

We truly appreciate every donation regardless of how big or small it may be as "every penny really does count."

Our Story

Mother and son are planning on climbing the highest free standing mountain in the world - Mount Kilimanjaro in October to raise funds for the hospice. 🏔️ 💪

For training, Eileen and Ross are climbing a Munro every second weekend and walking 10 miles 3 times a week. Eileen is determined to raise money for the hospice. She says: "My father died 25 years ago and we considered bringing him to the hospice for his final days but sadly he passed away before we got the chance. The staff in the hospice were so lovely to us at the time. 12 years later my aunt died in the hospice. We were with her every day and the staff were amazing. She had such a lovely peaceful death. 25 years ago I vowed to raise funds for your great charity and I am finally keeping my promise to my dad and my aunt. It just seems so appropriate that I’m meeting this challenge on my dad's 25th anniversary and my 60th birthday year."

We wish Eileen and Ross all the very best of luck with their #GoGold for Glasgow's Hospice challenge.
