I will be walking the 100km route (over two marathons) from London to Brighton over the May 2020 bank holiday weekend.
Starting out at Richmond, I will pass through the North Downs, Surry, Sussex, Turners Hill and over the South Downs to the Brighton coastline. The walk is expected to take at least 24 continuous hours.
Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust is the country's leading centre for treating sick children and has the widest range of specialists under one roof.
Every day, 619 children and young people from across the UK arrive for life-changing treatments. Every day, young lives hang in the balance as patients, families and staff battle the most complex illnesses.
Despite the greatest challenges a child can face, the hospital is a place where being sick does not always mean being sad. And it’s a place where you’ll find – today and every day – some of the bravest people you could ever meet.
This extraordinary hospital treated me as a patient when I was younger and had to undergo surgery. Great Ormond Street has always depended on charitable support, and I am attempting this 100km walk as a thank you for the treatment I received from their committed and hardworking staff.
