Story

Community Food Initiatives Northeast (Cfine, SC037833) is a charity operating five community food pantries across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire offering a family-orientated, shop like experience at a fixed weekly price (£2.50 per week for 10 items estimated value at £18-£23) for members (£3 annually). The charity doesn't just offer food, but also toiletries, baby products and household items.

Cfine aim is to improve health and wellbeing, and the environment, whilst tackling poverty and building resilience for those struggling with poverty.

They also run an emergency food bank (2-4 Polynernook Road, AB11 5RW) open every weekday 10am-3pm for individuals who need the help but have no referral or membership. Cfine also offers a mobile van shop for those who may struggle to get to their main shop, ensuring no one is left without.

Cfine also distributes free period products across Aberdeen on behalf of The Scottish Government, resulting in the national scheme in Scotland. In 202223 they distributed 225,608 packets of period products to those in need.

It is estimated that nationally 42,000 emergency food parcels were provided to support 21,000 children across Scotland in 2018 and it has only increased since then. Cfine are a phenomenal help to those in need with the fees being so small and manageable!
