London Marathon 2018 · 22 April 2018 ·

Welcome to our St Elizabeth's centre London marathon team page! Thank you for supporting St Elizabeth’s

Story

So, last year I started getting fit(tish) and losing a little weight and I thought “you know what, running the marathon again would be such a wonderful experience”. But like in 2014, now that it is a reality and
the event is getting closer, I realise that this was a massively ridiculous
idea and I am still no runner!!!

Anyway, I’m doing it and I’ve decided to do it for
a very worthwhile charity. Please feel free to sponsor me.

St Elizabeth’s is a charity that supports
vulnerable children and adults of all ages who have severe epilepsy, complex
neurological conditions and profound learning disabilities. They provide high-quality, specialist care,
education, health support and therapy, as well as providing access to a huge
range of accessible leisure and vocational activities, helping those living
with severe disabilities to live safe, happy lives and to maximise their
opportunities to live life to the full.
In the past 12 months, St Elizabeth’s have supported 70 children and young people and 136 adults. People who face a range of difficulties, in terms of their physical, learning, sensory and communication abilities and their health. Some of those supported can have seizures up to 30 times a day and many of the children and adults have such complicated conditions that they require highly specialised care, 24-hours a
day, 52 weeks of the year.  By supporting St Elizabeth’s work, you help fund the purchase of new therapy equipment, support the salary of a music therapist to work with the school children, fund new accessible IT equipment for the College learners or provide communication aids
for the residents – all essential to ensure they can live safe and happy lives and can access all opportunities.
