Fundraising for Children with Cancer UK
Story
As some of you know I love running, but more importantly I love the opportunity it gives to raise money for charity! With that in mind I have decided fundraise for the Children with cancer Uk charity, and more specifically Rosie!
I am also running Wrexham bakery half marathon ( 25th February), Arley Hall 10K ( 10th March) and Chester half marathon ( 29th April), along with other races, runs and park runs !
My challenge also continues in 2019 where I will be running London marathon 2019 and Berlin marathon 2019 ( two world marathon majors) ! I may also be doing Manchester marathon !
Rosie is an incredible young girl with a very brave heart, who at 5 years old has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. She’s a little fighter and is responding very well to treatment and everyone in the family is so proud of her!
As a result I wanted to show support to her, as well as the many other children facing the fight against cancer at such a young age.
Children with cancer Uk fundraises to provide care, support and facilities for children with cancer and their families. More importantly they invest in research into childhood cancers, with an emphasis on childhood leukaemia, as well as others.
This is so important, as it aids finding knew treatments that will be affective in curing cancer. As scientifically speaking children may have different causes of cancer compared with adults, involving different biological mechanisms. Equally their bodies respond differently to various treatments as they are still growing and developing, as they also require treatments that will cause less long term damage. Hence as to why it is so important for the research to take place.
