Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) is a charity set up in 1990 by people sick of seeing the ocean they love polluted. We campaign to protect the ocean and all it makes possible, by taking action on the ground that triggers change from the top. We're calling for an end to sewage and plastic pollution.

Story

Hello, and thanks for visiting my page. You will have seen what I am doing to raise money on my main page but I wanted to say a few words about why I have chosen this as one of my charities.

I really wanted to support an environmental charity as both Mark and I are saddened and shocked by issues such as plastic and food waste, deforestation both here in the UK and abroad, the state of our oceans, poor animal welfare and the continued, unnecessary use of unsustainable products such as palm oil and fuel.

We are by no means perfect and are trying to do more, but there are so many things that can be done to at least start to address the issues and which cost nothing more than a little time and effort.

I found it so difficult to decide what charity to support, and have researched many options.

Surfers Against Sewage is a small, UK wide charity that addresses issues such as plastic waste, ocean habitats that are being destroyed and water pollution in a number of ways, including education, campaigning for change, and parliamentary action groups. They also arrange and provide equipment for beach cleans across the country so that anyone can easily get involved in clearing up some of the human race’s mess.

For more information on what they do and how to attend or organise a beach clean, go to https://www.sas.org.uk/.

Thank you, and take good care.
