Grant went missing in the river Wey on Monday 28th March after capsizing his kayak. His son, Max and dog, Joey, jumped in to try to help Grant. They were unable to reach him and were both pulled to safety by the kindest people who live at the scene. Despite extensive searches, Grant has not been found. This page is in support of the voluntary emergency services whose professional dedication is humbling and extraordinary.
Surrey Search and Rescue, to whom donations will be made, worked from sun up to sun down over a number of days with volunteers coming from as far away as Lancashire. Working with Specialist Group International, they mobilised helicopters, drones, sonar, dogs, divers. No stone has been left unturned. They continue to look for him.
We, Grant's family are eternally grateful to them and we would like to give something back.
So many people have asked can they help. Yes you can, by donating to this charity and helping us to demonstrate our gratitude.
Please don't bring milk (although appreciated)- 17 pints have accumulated from visitors! and please take a moment to donate rather than send flowers. There is no such thing as a small donation and all contributions make a difference and are valued.
A bit more about the charity:
Surrey Search and Rescue is a non-profit Lowland search and rescue team based in Surrey, United Kingdom that provides Search and Rescue capabilities to the Surrey Police. In common with most UK SAR teams, SurSARs members are all unpaid volunteers.
