Boys In Mind
Campaign by The Charlie Waller Trust (RCN 1109984)
We aim to empower boys and young men to talk about their emotions in a safe and healthy manner, to promote positive images of boys and young men, and to embrace and celebrate diversity.

Story

At the end of February 2022 Emma's cousin, Henry, tragically made the decision to take his own life. This came as a massive shock to all of his friends and family, and he sadly felt he could not reach out to any of us for support.

Henry's death has left a huge whole in all our hearts. He was a smart, witty, very caring and thoughtful young man. His absence in the past few months has been unbearably painful for all of us.

Because of this, we have decided give ourselves the challenge of  participating in The Manchester Half Marathon in October, in support of Boys in Mind. The two of us have been friends since we were born, so Niamh and her family knew Henry well.

Boys in Mind is an incredible Somerset based charity, dedicated to boys mental health. It aims to break down the stigma around mental health in young men by: letting them know that boys and young men share similar challenges and feelings; encouraging them to show emotion when they need to; breaking down the stereotypes about what it means to be a 'man'. This allows them to talk about their problems and reach out for support.

We both really appreciate any support that you could give us at this tough time for us all.
