Emma runs for MummyShock

Brighton 10K Fundraiser for Mummyshock · 20 November 2022 ·
Hello friends and family!
After running the Brighton marathon in 2012, I think it’s fair to say I lost my interest in running 😝 But in the last few weeks, I’ve dusted off my running shoes for an amazing cause - MummyShock.
I started volunteering with MummyShock in September and they’re doing such important work, supporting women transitioning into motherhood, which is such a massive emotional rollercoaster so many of us face without support. I so wish I’d found it when my boys were small, but feel so grateful to be able to support other mamas by giving them a bit of my time. But now I’m stepping it up a notch and decided to raise some money to help them continue to run support groups.
Now guys, I’m not gonna lie… a decade has taken its toll on my body, and I’m finding training really bloody hard 🙈 With a week to go I’ve only managed 5k after getting a calf injury. Injury seems to be better 🤞 but this is not going to be easy. So please make the pain worth it and support with a few quid! 😂 Love you all. And you can read more about the charity below.

Release Counselling and Therapy for Women, the Charity which founded and runs Mummyshock in Brighton & Hove, is passionate about helping new mums who might be having a hard time finding their feet emotionally, to find a supportive community of other mums in the same boat, and support one another to grow in confidence and well-being. Our goal is to nurture mental health resilience in new mums, in a supportive community of women.Since Covid-19, demand for Mummyshock support groups has grown by 300%. The need is bigger than ever before, so that is why a team of us are running the Brighton 10k in November, to raise crucial funds to provide more support groups for more mums in the year ahead. This is what some mums have said about their experience of Mummyshock:"This course should be available to every new mum- there is nothing like it.""I dont think I would be the mum I am now without this group. It almost saved me in those early days.""This was a lifeline for me."
