Acromegaly 

Excessive enlargement of the limbs due to thickening of bones & soft tissues caused by a hormone growth from a tumour of the pituitary gland.

We've always known my buffoon father is unique (who else's father ties a dead dormouse to the front door to squash on my hand or superglued their keys together??) he proves it by developing this horrific rare disease which effects five in a million people. Whilst he is extraordinary brave it has restricted his life resulting in several holidays in hospital beds (selfishly ruining my swimming pool bingo) and heartbreakingly not being able to attend my brothers wedding. 

It is for this rare disease I have decided to run/crawl/get a taxi over the finish line of the Bristol half marathon.
