Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name is Fraser and this is my story.
In early 2014 I was diagnosed with epilepsy following my 3rd grand mal seizure. Having had my first at age 16 and my second at 22, I thought that at 34 years old I'd never have to experience a seizure again. That 3rd seizure hit me quite hard, psychologically. I had 3 months off work and to this day it can get to me at times. Epilepsy has effected my life. I was discharged from the arm, rejected by the fire service, rejected by all of the reserve armed forces, lost my driving licence for close to 2 years and I now have to take pills for the rest of my days.
I know this isn't much and these are things I can live with. I know there are others who are much more seriously effected by epilepsy. People who have seizures 1, 2, 3 times a day and whose families are in constant fear for their health. I went to school with a girl who has since passed away in her sleep following a seizure. I cant imagine how that effected her family and friends.
54,000 people in Scotland live with epilepsy and on average 8 people each day are diagnosed with epilepsy. Anyone can develop this condition at any given time, this is why I am fundraising for Epilepsy Scotland. To raise awareness, healthcare and too end the stigma of epilepsy.
Thank you for visiting my page and please donate if you can.
