Most of you will now know my story. Being diagnosed in 2013 with breast cancer was probably the darkest day of my life. There is not a day goes by when I don't think about what happened and what I went through. It may have been 5 years ago, but the memories are still very fresh and the scar I have from my mastectomy is a constant reminder of the journey I went through. 

Life is never the same after those 3 small but mighty words - "you have cancer" You're whole world just falls apart. Anyone touched by cancer (directly or indirectly) will know what this feels like. 

Fortunately, The Christie (where I was treated) were there for me and helped me re-build my world and get me back on the road to recovery, which I cannot thank them enough for. They gave me a second chance at life.

The staff at The Christie are completely dedicated to what they do and they were there every step of the way throughout my treatment and nothing was too much trouble. It is due to their 100% effort and input that I am here today, over 5 years later and celebrating life.

As  a thank you to them, I am fundraising for them once more. They are a renowned cancer specialist in the North West and I can’t praise them enough for all the hard work they do. 

Monies and donations raised goes towards a variety of things, not just treatments. These include state of the art equipment- such as the first proton beam therapy unit in the country which opened in August 2018. Monies also go towards improving patient facilities (such as a new 4D CT scanner which they are hoping to install  in the near future), investment in research and early phase trials, to name but a few. 

This year, I will be taking part in 4 events this year:- 

1) Tower Run - Running up 700+ steps of the Beetham Tower in Manchester (otherwise known as the Hilton Hotel)

2) Zip Wire Line - whizzing across Old Trafford (cricket ground)  .....on a zip wire

3) Manchester 10k - in May 2019

4) Walk of Hope - in Tatton Park in September 2019
