Story
thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
those who know me know i don’t run ever (fell off treadmill many times x) but for the first 28 days in april i’ll be running 5k every day to challenge my body in a way i never have before, showing a lil bit of gratitude for the body i’ve been blessed with and put it to some good use, up to the 5 year anniversary of the day domestic violence almost took my life, on the morning of 29/04/2017
i managed to put a lot of 2 and 2s together to see that the mental problems i was having over the past few years were primarily from the damage my ex caused, who was still persistent with his attempts to manipulate me at the beginning of last year. no matter what the perpetrator has gaslit you into believing or how other people see the situation (‘it was just the drugs’) it’s okay to hurt about it years later and admit that some days you are still trying to find the strength to work through it rather than force yourself to ignore/get over it like i was told to do. i know hurt people hurt people, so i do hope he starts being held accountable some time soon, and gets & accepts the help he needs so he’s no longer this dangerous.
‼️ abusers abuse because they’re abusers, not because of anything else ‼️
finding the security and power within yourself to be able to cut the cords for them to contact you is one of the most admirable things a survivor can do n i just want my story to be an example of that, to maybe give hope to anyone else in a similar situation. for the few that are fortunate enough, there is a joyful life after abuse and although it will take time to heal, i’ve never felt more connected to my inner peace - now it’s time to give back. donations will go towards supporting my sisters place in middlesbrough, an independent specialist charity who i contacted and were there for me, and were also there for my family through it all to help them to deal with the ripple effect domestic abuse has on everyone else, so i owe this to them x
here’s to acknowledging your trauma and here’s to strong women 🔥
